BR Riddles 'Standard 2' class 2-6-2 Tank No. 84002. Built at Crewe in August 1953 and withdrawn in April 1965. Works visits (in this case Crewe) gave photographers the opportunity to see and photograph locomotives in 'ex-works' condition. Once released back to traffic they seldom retained such splendid appearance for more than a week or two! 84002 is fitted for push-pull operation, the apparatus can be seen and closely examined on the smokebox side in this very detailed study.
