On Higham Ferrers Pull-push M24323 David Allen saysI don't think this is August 1962 (as the neg packet said). This looks very much like the last day of passenger service on the Wellingborough to Higham Ferrers branch, i.e. Saturday 13 June 1959. The loco always ran at the front towards Higham, because the carriage sidings are behind the train, towards Mill Road bridge visible in the distance, on the up side of the line, thus allowing the loco to be released from the train. As far as I know, the train never ran as shown, except to my knowledge on the last day. There were occasional summer Saturday excursions from Higham Ferrers and Rushden after closure to regular timetabled services in 1959, but they were loco hauled, not pull-push. This also fits with the allocation history of the loco, which was away at Annesley on August 1962 (although it returned to Wellingborough later).
