Ex-LMS Hughes/Fowler 'Crab' class 2-6-0 No. 42908. Built at Crewe in September 1930 as LMS No. 13208 and withdrawn in August 1966.

The former Great North of Scotland Railway works at Inverurie in Aberdeenshire has turned out 'Crab' 42908 in fine fettle, it will be returning to its home shed at Ayr in due course. Behind is a Barclay-built D2417, an 'O6' class 0-4-0 diesel shunter that managed a life of just over 9 years. Whereas, a steam predecessor would probably have served for 60 or more!
