42829 1962 Burton
42829 probably while stored at Burton from November 1961 until eventual withdrawal in June 1962. Two features of the Reidinger engines show up clearly in this view of the right-hand side of the engine. Firstly, because of the positioning of the reversing shaft, the cylinder lubricator had to be moved to the right-hand running plate, and both lubricators were then worked by a return crank from the rear driving wheel. Secondly, to allow conversion from closure of the valves by springs to closure by steam, a supply of steam was provided through a pipe on the right-hand side of the boiler that led from the dome to the valves and looked similar to a top feed arrangement.
