42721 during a LC (EO) repair from 27/6/61 to 10/7/61 with 42829 behind during a Light Intermediate lasting from 1/6/61 until 17/8/61. 42721 has had its smokebox repainted and is almost complete apart from its motion. Note the stencilled numbers and letters identifying the components to be restored to the engine after repair. These include CASUAL on the cab, 42721 RL and 42721 RC on the wheels, and 42721 on cylinder cover. 42721 was allocated to Aintree at this date. It has the later type of buffers, but still has twin air relief valves. There are no coal rails on the flush riveted tender, but the tank vents have been moved back.
