A visitor from Carlisle, Hughes ‘Crab’ No 42906 was photographed at Corkerhill in 1953. The large BR emblem on the tender was unusual for this class and typical of an overhaul and repaint carried out at a Scottish works. Built 1930; w/d December 1962 (from Kingmoor -where it had spent its entire BR existence.) ‘Compound’ No 40919 seen in the background was soon to be scrapped, in January 1954.
