Rousing the echoes at Preston, ‘Crab’ No 42844 sets off with a Preston-Fleetwood train on 25th November 1961. A late survivor of the class, No 42844 remained on the Fleetwood (24K) allocation until withdrawn in August 1965. The class became extinct in January 1967 when Nos 42727 and 42942 were taken out of service.
