42771 1962-06-10 Wellingborough

Hughes-Fowler 'Crab' 2-6-0 No.42771 on 10th June 1962 was a Leeds Holbeck engine from September 1954 until withdrawn in November 1963. Built as LMS No.13072 in July 1927 it is almost unchanged from that date. It received AWS equipment in September 1960 and is paired with a later pattern snap riveted tender rather than the flush riveted type it ran with for most of its life. No.42771 went into store in September 1962 and did not re-enter traffic, being withdrawn in November 1963.
