5305 Chinley 1977-09-24-ROneg-JC62-135
5305 & 5690 entering south end of Chinley station with the “Steamtown Special” railtour from Derby to Carnforth on 24 September 1977. The pair worked the train between Sheffield and Guide Bridge.
The difficulty in solving this railtour was due to the amount of incorrect information published on the internet.
Photos of the pair of locomotives on two different railtours, diesels on the same railtour, dates quoted varying between 1977-1979 and the locomotives involved differing from the tour advertising literature. There were also several other railtours running on this date but these are not listed on Six Bells.
The two railtours run on 24 September 1977 were organised by Dinting Railway Centre Ltd in association with Barrow Open Day Committee (presumably Barrow Hill) - advert in July 1977 Railway Magazine.
