Little has changed since the 1950s, there are less coaches stabled, the mess and breakdown coaches are more modern but the biggest differences are the loco classes, Black Fives now predominate (there may be a Carstairs 8F on shed somewhere), but the Jumbos and Dunalistairs have gone and just the station pilot is an ex Caley loco. Not 55261 wrong chimney, nor 55189 as this had a painted numberplate 5 days earlier at Polmadie. 55223 could be a possibility as this was loaned to Carstairs in May 1959 and the stove pipe is correct.
