For a long time in the BR period, No 63401 was a Tees-side Q6 which sported a chimney lacking a capuchon, similar to those which had been carried by Q5 0-8-0s. Here it is coasting down Stockton bank past the Roseworth housing estate in April 1961 with a class J freight. Later, after transfer to Tyne Dock a normal chimney was fitted. Withdrawal occurred in April 1964 following a front end collision.
