The small stations on the ex-NER 'racetrack' north of York were beautifully kept and maintained until the closure of most of them. Raskelf Station was typical in both appearance and architecture and the immaculate platforms must have been a contender for a 'best kept station' award! Ex-NER Raven 'Q6' 63421 passes northbound with a train of coal empties. Raskelf Station opened in August 1841 and closed to passengers in May 1958 and to all traffic in 1964.
