BR standard class 3MT 2-6-2T No 82006 waits to leave Afon When with the 10.25am train to Dovey Junction as 4MT 2-6-4T No 80096 arrives with the 8.20am from Dovey Junction on July 26, 1963.
Peter Kerslake says "Afon Wen was the junction of the former Cambrian Railways line from Portmadoc to Pwllheli with the LNWR line from Caernarvon and Bangor.
It reached its peak on Summer Saturdays in the early 1950s with lengthy trains running through to the Butlins Holiday Camp a short distance away at Penychain."
