82xxx 78007 1962-07-18 Portmadoc

A view from the footbridge here at Portmadoc station looking westwards with a Standard Class Three heading away towards the terminus at Pwllheli whilst Standard 78007 is on the extensive goods yard complex over on the down side, that facility providing storage for both goods and passenger empty stock, Portmadoc being an important freight handling centre at this period in time . The imposing building seen here on the right with its large squared ventilation window, on the eastbound or up side, is the two road Motive Power Depot dating back to GWR days, Portmadoc having an allocation of its own locomotives before it was closed and its staff transferred down to Pwllheli
