82013 1962-10-28 Exeter Central

No.82013 departing from Exeter Central on 28th October 1962 with a train to Exmouth. It was one of ten Class ?3? tanks, Nos.82010-19, which went new to Exmouth Junction shed in 1952 but was transferred to Eastleigh shortly after this picture was taken. The engines replaced ?M7? 0-4-4Ts on the Exmouth and Bude branches and on local services to Honiton and Axminster, and also worked as station pilot at Central station and on banking duties from St.Davids. The signal box behind No.82013 is Exeter Central ?A?, opened in 1927 with 90 levers controlling the eastern end of the station.
