Standard 82020 makes a fine picture here at Aberdovey on the Cambrian system as she skirts the estuary of the River Dovey and heads away from Dovey Junction some six miles to the east with a passenger working in the 'sixties .
In its early days there had been plans for a bridge from Aberdovey , then the terminus of the line from Barmouth Junction , across the Dovey estuary to the line to Aberystwyth , but that never came into being .
Averdovey's busy little port for visitng small coastal vessels in past years was served by a branch line dropping down a steep incline from the station to the harbour , that branch surviving until 1964.
