6012 1932c Crewe North

One of the fifteen ‘production’ 5XP 4-6-0s built in August 1932 at Crewe, No.6012 became No.5510 in June 1934. It has flat rather than angled smoke deflectors, a snap-head riveted tender with ‘beaded’ tanks, and the ‘LMS’ lettering on the tender is off-centre to avoid the rivets. The stock numbers are 12in. high and the ‘5X’ power classification is behind the cab windows which have black window frames. The cylinder drains are of the earlier “enclosed” pattern and it has a L&NWR 6ft.3in. swing link “radial” bogie as used on the first two conversions, Nos.5971 and 5902.
