Although the Southern Region Western Section had none of the Ivatt 2-6-2Ts from new, seven engines were transferred there by the end of July 1952. 41293 was the first, arriving at Eastleigh on 16 June. They were used on station shunting duties and on local passenger work as shown by 41293 on 28 March 1954.
