The joint Plymouth Railway Circle and RCTS 'Exmoor Ranger' five coach rail tour visited a number of lines that were due to lose their passenger service on March 27th 1965, including the Halwill to Petrockstow section which had been closed to all traffic four weeks prior to this tour. Ivatt '2MT's Nos. 41206 and 41291 are heading the train at Barnstaple. On shed is Collett '2251' No. 3205, allocated to Exmouth Junction, which will bank the train from Braunton to Morthoe, before taking over for the return from Ilfracombe to Barnstaple and on to Exeter via Dulverton and Taunton. It would be withdrawn shortly afterwards, but was saved for preservation, the only one of its class to survive.
