Auto fitted Ivatt '2MT' 2-6-2T No. 41221 at its home shed. It had been transferred to Green Ayre from Widnes in January 1962 and stayed until withdrawal in July 1965. The four-road Green Ayre shed was adjacent to the station on the Morecambe-Hellifield line and during the early 1960s had an allocation of over 50 engines working local passenger and freight together with shunting duties for which it had no less than 13 'Jinties'.
