This is a most unusual panoramic view of the 'new' locomotive shed at York (South) taken on a glorious June day in 1957. This small shed, with a pair of Worsdell 'T1' 4-8-0 tanks Nos. 69910 and 69916 outside, replaced the ancient and elegant twin roundhouses once topped with weather vanes. The remains of one, now roofless, can just be seen on the extreme right.
