2655 1937-10-24 Swindon Works

Fresh from overhaul, GWR 2655 at Swindon Works in October 1937. These Dean '2600' or 'Aberdare' class 2-8-0s introduced in 1900 were one of the earliest British classes of this wheel arrangement. The class became extinct in 1949. Their name derived from their principal use for hauling coal trains between Aberdare and Swindon.
