Peter Kerslake says "Just four coaches behind Newton Abbot's 5071 with a local stopping service, rather a mundane task for this 'Castle' which ended its days at Bristol in October 1963. Built in June 1938 and named Clifford Castle until September 1940 the engine's first shed was Newton Abbot and it was still there in 1948 so does not appear to have ventured very far away from the West Country."
