26007 1955c Wath

A nice image of a well turned out 26007 at Wath from where freight workings across the Pennines through the Woodhead Tunnel would invariably be double headed by a pair of these class EM1 locomotives , and in the case of the many heavily loaded coal trains from where banking assistance up to Dunford Bridge , just to the east of the Woodhead Tunnel , would also be provided . Closure to passenger traffic came about in January of 1970 , with Sheffield Victoria accordingly being closed , but coal remained the mainstay of the freight workings from the East Midlands coalfields westwards to Manchester 's power stations , such traffic taking the cross Pennine line up until July of 1981
