The sole surviving member of the little quot; Dukedog quot; class , 9017 is seen here on what must be a date shortly after its rescue from the cutters' torches and following its withdrawal from Oswestry Depot in 1960 following its years spent working the Cambrian system , in company with her sister engines.br/ Sadly , no others of her class were preserved , and 9017 , originally numbered 3217 , had been constructed by Swindon using the frames of withdrawn quot; Bulldog quot; 3425 together with boiler and fittings from quot; Duke quot; class 3282 quot; Chepstow Castle quot; .br/ 9017 had originally been intended to bear the nameplates quot; Earl of Berkeley quot; but those plates were diverted to newly constructed quot; Castle quot; 5060 following its construction in 1937 but were much later purchased in April 1963 when 5060 was condemned and they were gifted by their purchaser to the Bluebell Railway who had 9017 in their care and are borne by her today .
