699 1930s York Station
Ex-North Eastern Railway T.W.Worsdell 'J71' class 0-6-0 Tank No. 1134. Built at Darlington in August 1895 as NER No. 1134 and withdrawn in December 1950 still as LNER No. 8310. Ex-North Eastern Railway W.Worsdell 'V/09' class 4-4-2 No. 699. Built at Darlington in June 1910 and withdrawn in July 1944.
A steamy 1930s scene at the south end of York Station as 1134 performs station pilot duties being passed by 699. Both locomotives have the NER design of attractive 'wheel and handle' fastening on their smokebox doors.
