GNR 877 1910s New Barnet
Great Northern Railway Stirling 'B4' class 2-2-2 No. 877. Built at Doncaster in May 1894 and withdrawn in June 1913.
This section of the Great Northern Railway's main line at New Barnet was a favourite with photographers from the earliest days. This interesting and rarely photographed class is a Patrick Stirling 'B4' class 2-2-2 with nine 8-wheel coached behind the tender. Built in 1894, it had already been given a new Ivatt boiler (with dome) in 1901 and would be withdrawn just before the outbreak of WW1.
