On this day, 13th June 1959, the newly restored ex-GNoSR No 49 ‘Gordon Highlander’ was visiting Dumfries and the shed became a focus of attention for photographers. In store there, but serviceable, were two long term Dumfries Caley 0-6-0s, Nos 57378 and 57329. Both continued on the BR books until withdrawn in September / October 1962. The emblem on the tender of No 57378 has the lion facing the wrong way but this defect was never corrected.
