SPRR 2841 1948-01-05 Timber Oregon
Southern Pacific Railroad 'C10' class 2-8-0 No. 2841. Built at the Southern Pacific Shops in Sacramento, California in 1919 as a class of 29 locomotives, all withdrawn by 1958.
One of the most northerly outposts of the SPRR, Timber, Oregon appears to be appropriately named judging by the backdrop to 2841. It was only served by the railway for logging freight trains. It's is a small very rural community with a population of under 200! Seen in January 1948 and looking somewhat careworn, 2841 is resting between duties.
