CR 889 1910s Perth (CR) MPD

CR 889 1910s Perth (CR) MPD

Caledonian Railway McIntosh '900' or 'Dunalastair III' class 4-4-0 No. 889. Built at St. Rollox in May 1900 and withdrawn in November 1941 as LMS No. 14339.

The Caledonian Railway's official photographer often chose their Perth MPD as the ideal site for his photographs, as this fine example taken in about 1910. The wonderful sky blue livery complete with the CR crest on the tender and leading splasher is a sight to behold. This stunning livery colour is thankfully preserved for posterity on the 'Single' No. 123 in Glasgow's transport museum.

Restored from an original period 8"x10" print.
