HR 19 1902 Location unknown
Highland Railway P. Drummond '18' or 'Barney' (LMS '3F') class 0-6-0 No. 19. Built by Dübs & Co. of Glasgow in August 1902 and withdrawn in December 1946 as LMS No. 17700.
Peter Drummond's 'Barney' class 0-6-0s consisted of just twelve locomotives. The first four received the then fashionable design of a water tube firebox, as illustrated here by the square raised panels on the firebox side. These were removed by the LMS in 1925 as requiring mor maintenance and less effective than conventional flue tubes. No. 19 is seen in 1902 brand new, in this Highland Railway official photograph at an unidentified location. Restored from an original period 8"x10" print.
