D270 1960c Cross Gates

BR 40 1Co-Co1 No D270 with a Liverpool to Newcastle express passes Cross Gates station in c1960. Cross Gates Station on the eastern outskirts of Leeds. This is where the line (closed Jan. 1964) to Wetherby, Ripon and Northallerton diverged from the York and Selby route. D270 is signalled for Wetherby. Note the unusually sited goods shed above the train, situated on a dead-end siding for the convenience of trade access.
