This is a War Dept LMS 8F seen while working in the Middle East. It has a Persian Rly number 41.157 (seen on the smokebox and in much smaller script on the buffer beam). It was WD no 70396 despatched to the Middle East in Nov 1941 and passed on to the Egyptian State Rly in 1948. This particular loco was an oil burner, the tank is just visible in the tender.
