GNR 1393 1905 King's Cross
Great Northern Railway Ivatt 'D1' (LNER 'D2') class 4-4-0 No. 1393, Built at Doncaster in February 1903 and withdrawn in October 1949 still as LNER No. 2188.
The pristine condition of King's Cross' platforms in this 1905 scene are a credit to the station staff. 1393 is also in fine fettle and was one of seventy of these elegant locomotives, all built at Doncaster. They were allocated throughout the GNR system, working secondary passenger trains and some fast goods trains. They were also noted on express passenger services between Grantham and York and assisting Stirling Singles out of Kings Cross.
