43914 1958-08-30 Derby

The 4F 0-6-0s were frequently pressed into passenger service on summer Saturdays for excursion work. No.43914, which was from Royston and would normally spend its time on freight work in South Yorkshire, passes London Road Junction signalbox as it heads southwards. The only day “civilians” were allowed on Hulland Street footbridge was the annual Derby Locomotive Works Horticultural Show & Open Day – so the date must be 30 August 1958
