3823 1924c Paddington
GWR County class 4-4-0 No 3826 County of Flint leaves Paddington with a down slow in c1924.
Peter Kerslake says "With the massive G.W.R. Goods Shed in the background "County" no. 3823 "County of Carnarvon" makes an impressive exit from Paddington on a down local service and phootographed from the Goods platform on the departure side of the terminus.
At this period in time the majority of the class were allocated to Depots at Bristol Bath Road and within the Wolverhampton area, thereby retaining an important working between Bristol and Birmingham, and the "Counties" were the heaviest locomotives permitted on that line until 1927 when weight restrictions were lifted over Stonehouse viaduct in Gloucestershire.
This engine was built in December 1911 and withdrawn in April of 1931."
