It was not usual to see a Brush Type 2 pairing rather than two English Electric Type 1s (or Sulzer type 2s) on a coal train at Toton. On 7th July 1971 the blue livery of No.5845 contrasts with the original lined green of No.5826. Note the single class 20 in the background.David J. Hayes says Assuming the displayed headcode is reading 8E51 and not 8F51, this would make this train the 15:25 SSuX Manned Conditional service from Toton (Meadow Yard) to Mansfield Concentration Sidings, so the pair would be working off Shirebrook. Yes it E as the letter above is D Strangely the first two hoppers are loaded with what looks like coal or perhaps small coke, the rest are empty. The branding on the first one probably reads something like House Coal Concentration or similar. Why send coal or coke to Mansfield - faulty hopper doors, perhaps? The service was shown as Empties in the WTT and appears to be formed mainly of empty wagons as advertised.
